If the noise level in your workplace is greater than the noise levels of a busy restaurant you may be exceeding the noise levels specified in the Noise regulations. As noise consultants we are able to carry out surveys for a number of apllications. The most popular being for compliance with the noise regulations or for planning purposes using the guidance in PPG 24. We are also qualified in audiometry and can provide on site audiomentric testing

What we do

• we start with a survey of the facility using a state of the art hand held Class 1 sound pressure level meter
• we take noise level readings and observe working patterns
• where appropriate we undertake whole or half shift monitoring of locations or individuals using a state of the art noise dosemeter
• we provide a clear report of our findings
• we carry out and report a noise risk assessment which identifies which areas or jobs are likely to exceed the lower or upper exposure limit values
• we identify the requirements for those areas in terms of signage, audiometry, reduction of exposure etc.
• we assess the adequacy of the hearing protection available and make recommendations if required
• we bring our audiometric testing equipment on site and carry out audiometry on individuals exposed above the upper exposure action value as required under the Regulations

What it costs

The cost depends on the size and complexity of the organisation but for an SME it can be as little as £ 500.00. Environmental noise

For architects and developers we provide surveys in accordance with the planning guidelines PPG 24 which require the rating of potential development sites according to the existing noise levels and provide advice on mitigating possible noise nuisance from any development.
