Hearing tests

Audiometry

If the noise level in your workplace exceeds the upper exposure value of 85dB(A) then it is a requirement of the regulations that an employer provides health surveillance in the form of hearing tests.

For most organisations the most cost effective method of complying with this requirement is to have the testing carried out on site. This minimises the disruption and costs. If required we can bring our fully self contained facility on to site. Based on a customised high roof Vauxhall Movano the facility can be parked on your premises. The facility has its own power supply and can be operated totally independently.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

We simply park at a suitable place on your premises and carry out the testing with no interruption to your normal business operations.

Alternatively we can bring the testing equipment in to your premises and set up in a private meeting room or office.

The tests last around 20 minutes per employee. Where necessary we can arrange to cover evening or night shifts to suit your convenience

What we do

  • we identify a relatively quiet and private area in which to carry out the testing.
  • alternatively we bring our own fully self contained testing facility and park it on your premises.
  • we bring our audiometric testing equipment on site and carry out audiometry on individuals exposed above the upper exposure action value as required under the Regulations.
  • The tests consist of a simple questionnaire, followed by optoscopy (an examination of the ear) and finally we test the threshold of hearing at a range of different frequencies.
  • The results of the tests are given to the employee on the spot.
  • Where the tests show significant levels of hearing loss then the employee is given the results in writing and advised, where appropriate to seek further medical advice.

What it costs

depending on the logistics the costs can be as little as £ 15.00 per employee. Whatever the size of the organisation we are prepared to offer a fixed price quotation so it is clear what the costs will be before you make any commitment.
